Continuing to learn and advance with dental technologies is one of the reasons our team feels proud to work at our office and why our patients feel confident in their smiles. An example of one of our state-of-the-art dental devices is the Erkoform 3d+ thermoforming unit.
What is 3d+ Thermoforming?
3d+ Dental Thermoforming is used in our dental lab to imprint and fabricate dental applications like sports mouth guards, bleach trays, and other orthodontic appliances.
Thermoforming is a quick and accurate technology for all our dental imprinting needs. So, when you need a new mouth guard or other dental appliance you can trust it will be delivered quickly and with high quality.
How does it Work?
Older dental equipment exclusively used a vacuum method to operate, but the new Erkoform 3d+ Thermoforming technology uses a touchless temperature control, pre-vacuum method. It employs a quick infrared heating element which allows for a closer adaption of the material to the model. Essentially, the imprint or mold is made from heat and compressed air for a perfect fit.
Our staff has been trained on how to create a variety of appliances using the Erkoform device. Because it is used for a wide variety of dental applications, the process can vary from one application to the other.
What are the Advantages?
As mentioned above, the Erkoform 3d+ thermoforming technology creates more accurate impressions via its quick infrared heating element. In addition, 3d+ thermoforming offers a space below the solid platform to allow for taller models and bigger impressions. The technology allows for a quick result—providing the patient with less time in our chair.
