What are dental veneers?
Cosmetic dental flaws are common, varied, and disheartening. Even the smallest chip or fracture can cause trouble to your self-esteem and overall oral health. One of our most versatile solutions, veneers are thin, semi-translucent shells bonded to the front of your teeth to improve your smile. Dr. Brian Homann may suggest you dental veneers to repair:
- Chipped teeth
- Teeth separated by gaps
- Discolored or stained teeth
- Misshapen teeth
- Crooked teeth
- Cracked teeth
- Dental trauma from accidents
Most often made of porcelain, dental veneers are custom made to look, feel, and function like natural teeth.
How are dental veneers applied?
Creating and applying veneers in Elk Grove Village, Illinois generally requires just two visits to our office. During your first visit, we will take molds of the teeth and pick out the perfect shade of porcelain. We can either match the porcelain to your natural tooth color or pick a shade that is much lighter to transform the appearance of your entire smile. Our team may also prepare your teeth to accommodate the thickness of the veneers by removing a small layer of tooth enamel. After your veneers are created at a dental laboratory and sent back to our dental office, Dr. Brian Homann will check the veneers for quality and make any necessary adjustments. Your dental veneers are then cemented permanently into place. For more information on dental veneers, and to schedule your cosmetic consultation, please contact our dental office today.
