Dental Technology Used at Our Elk Grove Village Practice
The following is a summary of the newest dental technology we use in our clinic to provide high-quality dental care for our patients.
- Dexis CariVu™ Caries Detection Device: This is one of the newest tools in our office, and it helps Dr. Homann detect dental cavities earlier and more accurately than before, allowing for more conservative and cost-effective treatment. CariVu™ uses near-infrared light to make the tooth’s enamel appear transparent, highlighting cavities by absorbing the light. This technique provides highly accurate detection, even at the earliest stages, which helps prevent more serious dental issues in the future.
- VITA Easyshade® V Technology: This cutting-edge tool is used in our office to accurately match the color of your natural teeth for dental restorations. This handheld spectrophotometer measures the light spectrum passing through your tooth to identify its exact shade. This ensures that restorations like crowns, veneers, fillings, and prosthetic teeth blend seamlessly with your smile. It also assists in determining the ideal shade for teeth whitening treatments, helping Dr. Homann achieve beautifully natural results.
- 3Shape Trios Intraoral Scanners: These are among the most advanced wireless scanners available today. These scanners provide highly accurate digital impressions in lifelike colors, making it easier to take precise measurements and communicate with patients. They also record both static and dynamic movements, capturing contact points for more personalized care. The scanners use Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology to remove excess soft tissue from impressions, making the scanning process even more efficient and comfortable.
- Ultrasonic Scaling Units: At our dental office, we use ultrasonic scalers for teeth cleanings to effectively remove plaque and hard deposits from your teeth. This process, known as “scaling,” is performed with advanced ultrasonic technology, which provides a more comfortable and efficient cleaning experience compared to traditional methods. We use these tools to make sure your teeth are thoroughly cleaned while ensuring a more pleasant visit for our patients.
- Intraoral Camera: We use intraoral cameras to give patients a clear view of their oral health in real time. About the size of a pen, this camera allows Dr. Homann to capture live video from inside your mouth, which is then streamed to a screen that both you and the dentist can see. This advanced technology helps patients better understand their dental conditions by seeing exactly what the dentist sees.
- Ekoform 3d+ Thermoforming: This unit is used in our dental lab to imprint and fabricate dental applications like sports mouth guards, bleach trays, and other orthodontic appliances. Thermoforming is a quick and accurate technology for all our dental imprinting needs. So, when you need a new mouth guard or other dental appliance you can trust it will be delivered quickly and with high quality.
- Electric Handpieces: These small, handheld devices are dental instruments used for a variety of purposes in a dental office. High-speed handpieces, for instance, are generally used for procedures like cutting tooth structures or finishing restorations. Their low-speed counterparts, on the other hand, are generally used for root canals, implants, and the removal of dental decay.
- Digital X-rays: Our office uses digital X-rays to help diagnose problems that cannot be seen with the naked eye alone. They catch the earliest stages of tooth decay, and can help diagnose problems before symptoms start—which is usually when the problems are easier to fix.
- ADEC LED Lights: LED stands for “light emitting diode” and these lights have several benefits for the dentist, the patient, and the environment. When we can see more, we can do more accurate work. Unique settings on these lights allow for more control over the materials we use as well.
- Second Opinion® by Pearl: This technology is the first AI platform that automatically detects numerous conditions in dental X-rays, in effect giving dentists a second set of eyes. This diagnostic precision comes from the system’s ability to find the first signs of different dental problems, including hard-to-spot issues like early cavities and periapical radiolucencies (potential infections in the jawbone).
