Congratulations to Dr. Homann for being selected as a 2020 American Dental Association 10 Under 10 Award recipient!
Nominations for this award are open to dentists from all over the US who have been in practice for 10 years or less and have excelled in terms of their leadership, advocacy, research and education, practice excellence, or philanthropy.
Dr. Homann stands out in many of these categories but is particularly passionate about his philanthropic efforts. For 10 years, Dr. Homann was part of the team at Goldie’s Place, which helped provide free dental services to homeless individuals in Chicago. Dr. Homann was instrumental in expanding the clinic and helping to add the Denture Program. Unfortunately, Goldie’s Place closed its doors in 2019. However, this allowed Dr. Homann to focus his efforts on a new endeavor: creating and opening a dental clinic with Refugee One, an organization that helps new refugees entering the US (that are often fleeing persecution in their home country).
In 2019, Dr. Homann’s office hosted its first-ever Free Dental Day. Over $28,000 worth of free dental care was provided to those in need in Elk Grove Village and the surrounding communities. Dr. Homann plans to continue this event yearly, with the next event being held in August of 2020.
Dr. Homann is an adjunct faculty member at the University of Illinois at Chicago College of Dentistry, and he helps students provide free care to underserved populations. Dr. Homann also has helped mentor fellow dentists in practice ownership. Dr. Homann even created a mobile dental set-up to help seniors and those with mobility issues who cannot leave their homes.
Dr. Homann will be honored with the 9 other recipients at the ADA Conference in October!
